MethylPREDNISolone 4mg - Back Problems Message Board - HealthBoards
Sciatica refers to pain, weakness, numbness, or tingling in the leg. It is caused by injury to or pressure on the sciatic nerve. Sciatica is a symptom of another medical problem, not a medical condition on its own.
This subreddit is a place for redditors to discuss anything relating to Sciatica such as advice, any stories Sad or Successful! Anyone have luck with Methylprednisolone? I've been suffering with pretty intense sciatic nerve pain down my left leg for about 6 weeks, I just went my Dr. I'm on day 4 and I'm not feeling much relief. Just wanted to here about any other experiences.
Have you tried Tramadol? I highly recommend it, it was the only non-narcotic that really helped me, it didn't give me any bad side effects or make me tired. I wish you the best and i hope you get insured soon, this pain is too stressful I was a week too late on my surgery and got permanent nerve damage but its not so bad.
I had the pain for about 3 years. I had a major flair up in ish and i quit my fast food job always on feet to be a receptionist then the pain was pretty much gone then in the summer of it started coming back slowly and when i picked up a night reception job sitting 14hrs a day it hit to unbearable amounts of pain where i quit the 2nd job but still no relief, i had 3 of the shots in 2 months and couldn't get anymore so i had a laminectomy this past August.
For the record i had 2 bulging herniated discs, believed to be from when i was hit by a car at the age of 16, im 22 now. To give you more insight: I had the 6-day 4mg dose once, and it was just to get me through the MRI. I was having difficulty laying in a flat position, and although the steroid pills didn't really help that problem much, I found that I had greatly reduced pain while walking, sitting, etc.
It has started to wear off, the dose ended about 2 weeks ago, and I'm about back to where I was before. I'll be getting the steroid injection soon. I noticed a significant reduction in pain from a 9 to about a 6 on the second day. Ive had the dose pack 3 times which doctors do not prefer at all but it was over 2 years. The first and 2nd times i only had relief while on the packs 2 years apart the 3rd time was 3 weeks after my laminectomy to help with the inflammation which helped very well.
