Source for Trojan batteries seem to hard to find, most dealers I have talked to don't carry marine type batteries. I know Gander Mountain carries them but a little suspect about how and how long they have been stored.
I talked to one battery dealer who told me he carries Deka batteries, http: I had never heard of the company, anyone have any experiences with this or their products. As always any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
If you can find a Deka Marine Master 24M7, it should be a good choice. Never needs water and has cca. I have a re-badged Fleet Farm Deka 24M7 and is on it's fourth year. Can't help you with the Deka brand. Gander Mountain used to carry Trojan batteries, but you had to watch the date- sometimes their batteries were years old. Trojan website has the information on how to read their date codes and a dealer search tool- seem to be several dealers in SE Michigan. I'm thinking these guys might carry marine products: Last edited by yarcraft91; at You won't go wrong with East Penn made batteries.
They make a very high quality battery that is made in the USA. IMHO Trojans are considerably overpriced for the perception of quality that you are getting. I feel more comfortable dealing with direct suppliers, you have someone that knows what you are asking for and you have someone to refer to if you have a problem.
I fish daily about 8 months per year and have them continuously on charge when not in use. They still perform as new and have required zero maintenance. East Penn Manufacturing is a first rate producer of batteries and are American made.
You will be very happy with them. I will 2nd the Walmart batteries. Bob, I think I am going to stay with the traditional cranking battery for now. I will be up on the last week-end of August for a couple of weeks. We stay at the Sanctuary Resort on Whitefish Bay. Deka has been around for eons. I would not hesitate to buy one.
